Intrepid Museum
The first place to visit that day was the Intrepid Museum. In fact it is a US ship (USS) turned into a museum.
Submarine Growler
Growler is the only American nuclear missile submarine open to the public.
These pictures are here for a reason – this particular submarine, USS Growler (SSG-577), was on duty in the Pacific, and in a worst-case scenario would have had to launch a nuclear strike against a Soviet naval base at Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
Aft torpedo room
British Airways Concorde
You need an extra ticket to visit the Сoncorde, so I only took a picture of it from the outside.
Deck
There are many, many more types of equipment, I’m only putting some of the photos here.
A-12
I am not an expert in military affairs, but there is some equipment that is known even to the average person due to its memorable design. However, I missed here – I thought it was an Lockheed SR-71, but it turned out to be a Lockheed A-12, which I didn’t know about. However, I was still close – the SR-71 is a developed version of the A-12.
Space Shuttle Enterprise
It is a prototype of the Space Shuttle reusable transport spacecraft designed for atmospheric testing and was not intended for space flight. It’s been at the Intrepid Museum since June 2012.
A day walk
After the museum, I decided to take a little walk around the times square.
I tried to see as much as possible in this short period of time, although I was well aware that the resource of my legs was limited.
One Vanderbilt I visited on 7.11
A bus tour. Uptown Loop
This route was shorter than yesterday’s, and I had already been to some parts of it myself.
Of all the buildings, I actually like the Сhrysler the most. One of the most recognizable buildings (actually I thought it was the Empire State Building for a long time in my youth) with a great look. I wish there were more buildings that combined practicality and appearance.
An evening walk
And again another walk in the late afternoon.
November 5 was just the election I caught – flags were everywhere. It was as if they had taken out absolutely all the flags that were available on the territory of the country at the moment. Being there last evening, I didn’t even notice it.
Sunset from the room
After the bus tour I even managed to stop by the hotel and catch the sunset, or rather its reflection in the mall, the real sunset was yet to come.

A ferry ride. Statue of Liberty
New York City looks good during the day, but it takes on a special charm at night. Despite the fact that I took a lot of photos and videos, many of them were of poor quality – wind, shaking of the ferry on the waves, old phone, alcohol – generally understandable.
This is my first time seeing the famous Statue of Liberty in person. The statue looks great with night lighting, and I’m glad I had a chance to see it at different times of the day – the next day I took another ferry to the island itself.
As the ferry glided through the waters, the city skyline came alive with a vibrant, electric energy that was impossible to ignore. I think a trip like this will leave almost no one indifferent. There is natural beauty, and this is man-made beauty. Looking at such a densely built city, you can feel how much labor and effort has been put into it.
